Episode 27: The Snail Darter Gang – Ecofeminism and Vegan Feminism

Grab your vegan chocolate and listen to Liz and Bea (despite her heatwave-induced aphasia) talk about the origins of ecofeminism, ecofeminism and intersectionality, speciesism, the intersection of meat eating and hegemonic masculinity, meat eating and empathy and why veganism is a feminist issue.

Episode 26: Sex-Positive Feminism

Grab some chocolate and join us for this month’s first episode and the first episode ever that was recorded in ONE PLACE and not via the Internet. Yes, we were actually in the same room and talking about sex. More specifically: sex-positive feminism, its origins, its proponents, opponents and everything that is good and/or bad about it. Spoiler alert: sex(uality), like everything else is intertwined with the patriarchal culture we all grew up in and where socialized into. Who would have thought 😉

Episode 17: Women’s History Month – The US Edition with PerSister Amy Drayer

Grab your chocolate (lots of chocolate!) and listen to Bea, Liz and special guest Amy talk about all the things from reproductive freedom, to the suffragette movement, to retirement poverty.

Amy Drayer is an activist, author, and feminist. She has written for The Huffington Post, Medium, and is currently working on a novel and worked on progressive political campaigns and issues throughout her career.

We hope you enjoy our discussion of the history of the women’s movement, where we are now, and our hopes for an intersectional future.

Episode 15: Happy Feministmas!!

Are you ready for Feministmas? It is a wonderful time of year that celebrates some pretty kickass ladies from history and myth! From saints to goddesses and trees to mistletoe, grab your holiday chocolate and cookies and join Beatrice, Elizabeth, and Heather as they celebrate the origins of the holiday and a few of the many important women who helped make the season what it is today! In keeping with holiday spirit, this episode only features a bit of stomach slitting and burning on stakes, far less then usual. Happy Feministmas, Nasties!

Episode 11: Life Lessons from Witches Around the World

Join Beatrice, Heather, and Elizabeth on their final installment of their October witch series. From Baba Yaga and Jenny Greenteeth to the Bell Witch and the Raven Mocker, witch-like figures from folklore around the world are discussed. The conversation turns from creepy to chilling as Elizabeth sobers the conversation with a look into women persecuted for witchcraft in South America.

Really, though, we at SWP see this episode as a how-to, real-life guide on navigating the dangers of the world. Just a few words of wisdom include: always beware of Bigfoot, don’t open the door you were told to ignore, and, as always, never enter a hut that stands on chicken legs.

Episode 6: Asèxuale – the (not so) new fragrance for YOU

Grab your chocolates, nasties, cause Beth and Bea discuss the ‘A’ in LGBTQIA and how it doesn’t represent allies, but rather the ever-mystifying ‘asexuality’. Full of witty one-liners and phrases you’ll want a button of, Beth and Bea unpack all the shades of grey within asexuality, as well as look at some of the other closely-related ways that people may identify – all while inventing their own perfume line (you’re going to want it, trust us!).

Stay tuned for our next exciting new series soon!

Episode 4.1: Rethinking Sodom: The Bible and Queer Sexuality

It’s time to grab your chocolate again, as in this episode (which is a cutout from last week’s binegativity episode), Bethany talks about everything that is wrong with all of us disgusting (homo/bi/pan/a/…) sexual humans – according to religious bigots. But don’t despair! She then deconstructs everything and tells these zealots why THEY are wrong. If you need good arguments against scripture-based queernegativity and if you want to listen to Beth butchering Greek words, to Liz swearing and to Bea not knowing the names of the articles she quotes and making jokes that nobody finds funny, you need this episode. You’re welcome.
